Wow. We are almost done with freshman year. I cannot believe it. And this is our last blog right? It is all so unbelievable right now. One side of me REALLY REALLY wants to go home but the other side of me really does not want this great experience to end. I guess for this blog, I am going to do the classic reflection of what I learned during my first year in college. (If this is not our last blog, I think I'll be a bit embarrassed to have written about this. LOL)
1. The classic. "Procrastination kills." It kills me in high school, but in college, I think that its deadly horrifying. One day of procrastination seems to ruin your whole grade. I learned to not procrastinate. In high school, I could fly by with doing homework the day before, but in college, sometimes one day is not even enough.
2. Friendships last- I guess moving away from your group of friends in high school really is a test of friendship. However, I learned that it is okay to be so far away. As long as we are home for break and get to see each other often, the friendship that you always had with your friends will always be there.
3. Being an only child is tough- I prepared myself before entering college. I told myself not to miss my family too much because I had to get my priorities straight. Well. I lied. I was very homesick. Its been almost 2 months since I've been home and I am admitting it. I am still a Mommy and Daddy's girl.
4. College is not a smooth ride, neither is anything after. - Okay so, don't laugh. I had big ambitions coming into college. I wanted to go to Medical school =[ But after taking chemistry and getting an idea about organic chemistry, I am starting to have doubts. I am struggling on the fence right now as to what I should do.
5. Dealing with important decisions- College is all about decisions. Whether you succeed or not really depends on how much effort you put in your decisions. Decisions pave way to opportunities. Needless to say, they make up who you are. Just a simple thing like deciding whether you should stay at home Friday night really says a lot about who you are.
6. Lastly, English is fun- I liked English in high school, but saying goodbye to it really does suck a little bit. It is the last English class that I am going to take forever. Now, that sounds so scary. Can I survive without someone always correcting me grammatically in the real world? I guess we'll see.
To close off, I really enjoyed blogging =] and thanks for all the comments. You guys have been the best group ever! I wish you all a good life and a successful college experience!
-Signing off,
Emily Huang
