The Big Event and April 16

I had a lot of fun this week =]
WARNING: The beginning of this post is a bit emo.

To start off, Yesterday was April 16. A day of remembrance. I didn't go to any of the events during the day but I went to the candlelight ceremony at night, and as freshman, I would have never imagined how difficult it must have been for the hokie community when this tragedy happend. The ceremony was very sad and it was tough going through it. Seeing all people come together and share a moment of silence was a truly great thing. I did not cry during the ceremony, but when I got back to my room, it started to hit me. I started listening to very inspiring songs( I know, emo, I don't why I did that either) and I had flashbacks of what just happend. I started remembering all of the descriptions of the 32 victims and realized how accomplished these people are. Aside from feeling like a total slacker, I started to think, that I take so many things for granted. I complain about doing homework and studying, but then I witness these people who acually had stories to tell. They were in honors, work their butts off, and had so many ambitions, but in the end, their destiny lead them to this tragedy. I started thinking, What did these people do to deserve this? They had so much going for them and if you think one step further, imagine how much they can help our society and make a difference. I felt sad, but at the same time, very blessed. It makes me want to actually motivate myself to be just like them.

Well anyway, enough of the mushy gushy stuff. Today was the Big Event! I had soo much fun. Although I am super sore. We went to a lady's house and did all her yard work. We planted trees, raked, watered trees, dug holes, pull out weeds, basically all you can think of. She was super nice and gave us really good food and hospitality! I can't wait for next year! I'll definitely do it again!
